Before she can scold him for telling such an obvious lie to her, he cuts in and asks her out on a date. A soft sigh escaped her lips as she looked out the window, fingers gently brushed at the fabric of the blanket thrown on top of her. She wanted to scold him, but given he had beaten her to the punch she doesn’t feel it fits the situation anymore.

          “ A date with my favorite hero? I think I might just faint from the excitement. ”

Yet another series of soft giggles as she shifted slightly to get into a more comfortable place. She always felt like a teenager again whenever she was with Kotetsu and speaking on the phone with him was no different.

          “ I think that sounds absolutely splendid. I wouldn’t argue against some alone time with my most loved person. ”

       THERE THEY FLEW,  butterflies without care in his stomach;  flustered, euphoric anticipation reminiscent of high school days.   ah, how days of youth were vivid in mind of a hero  ——  years separated him from them, inevitable push forward only further distancing him   (   all a memory, yet happiness REMAINED.   ).  

       HAND BALLED INTO FIST,  arm stretched upward before being brought down vertically at slow pace, silent  ’ YES! ’  escaping his lips.   one look at it,  &&  it’d be easy to infer it is a teenage boy within the body of an adult.   dates had not been often occurrences due to busy job as a hero;  verily, little time between them SWEET, SWEET TREASURE that felt like eternity.   with her condition  —  absolutely nothing he could blame  —  difficulty of even being in each other’s presence only arose.   unintentional gap had been forged,  &&  only way to ameliorate?   a date!

          “ Ah, you always know how to treat a lady, don’t you? I should be back at the house when you come back, but I’m not sure when they plan on letting me go. The tests are running a bit longer this time. ”

Whenever she spent too much time in the hospital it made her worry that her condition was worsening. There was always a chance that her sickness would take her life and that was something that scared her beyond words. She only hoped that it wouldn’t happen and she could live a happy life with her family, but she quickly shook those thoughts as she sat up slightly, holding the phone closer.

          “ Are you okay though? That last episode seemed as if you got close to really getting hurt. ”

              ❛   i’m  fine,  i’m  fine!   ❜     rather blatant lie is spoken, yet he knows her more than anyone else.   he knows he is to be CAUGHT in his lie easily, for she knows him, too.   LOVE WAS JUST WONDERFUL.   yet, he’d rather be caught in that lie than to admit it hurt  ——  it stalled for time, it allowed him to hear such a melodious, heavenly voice scold him a little longer.   it allowed him to continue talking to her.   god, how the craving to see her again has grown these past few days.     ❛   it  was  nothing  major …   i  swear.   ahah  —  anyway,  look,  i  was  wondering  if …   for  old  time’s  sake,  you’d  like  to  go  out  on  a  date  with  THE  wild  tiger?   heh,  it  can  be  a  picnic,  too.   as  soon  as  you’re  out,  it’s  just  you  &&  me  for  a  while.   … how about it?   ❜

              ❛   you  get  excited,  huh … ?   ❜     familiar warmth in chest was NOTHING LESS THAN LOVE.   driving force that urged him on to continue heroic duties, the same driving force that gave him the courage to ask for her hand.   it is a feeling he would never sought to replace, but rather cherish it to the ends of the earth.   only hearing her was enough to make euphoria pinch at his cheeks ;  ah, red, her favorite color, wasn’t it?   a chuckle escapes his lips  &&  he nods, almost as if she could see him.   god, how he longed to see her.   ❛   well,  it’d  be  unfair  if  i  CALLED  &&  didn’t.   i’ll  bring  you  roses,  too!   i  know  you  love  them.   ❜

              ❛   eh?   ❜     sound that escapes through lips is low, soft press of lips against his cheek only elicit perplexed countenance.   in spite of initial reaction, eyes soften  &&  lips curve upwards to form heart warming smile of his ;   unmistakeable, only he could give such a radiating grin.   once she pulls back, only a chuckle leaves lips before promptly kissing her cheek  —  quickly, of course, to make sure she doesn’t try to avoid it.   seeing that smile of hers …   only further emphasized purpose of his work :  why he had to stop criminals.   to protect the innocent lives of many.   TO PROTECT HER FROM BEING HARMED.   god, if he were to name every moment tomoe had made him feel more alive, more in love with her, the list could go on forever.   she was the one who brought happiness to him.     ❛   hey …   did  i  tell  you  how  much  i  love  you  today?   ’cause  i  love  you  a  whole  lot!   ❜     &&  one more peck on the cheek for good measure.   loving wife deserved the world.

"I got the okay to come visit you and decided to do that. Should I not have?" Tomoe had been hospitalized the week before and they told her to take it easy. What better way than come visit her loving husband?

              ❛   i  know,  but …   ❜     concerned expression refuses to leave face, eyes staring at hers ;  gentle, like she is.   if one were to say there was no ELATION felt upon seeing her, a sorely mistaken statement would be conjured  &&  corrected immediately.   beloved of his had been hospitalized, advised to rest well  &&  not strain herself too much.   she’s here now,  &&  given her condition, he can’t help but ULTIMATELY WORRY ABOUT HER WELL BEING.   what if he’s not there when something bad happens?   what if there’s a missed call that’s urgent  &&  he’s at work?   a risk he doesn’t want to experience.   perhaps …   a few days off wouldn’t hurt.     ❛   alright,  alright.   but  i’m  staying  to  look  after  you  this  time!   ❜

              ❛   ah  ——  hey,  hey!   ❜     chuckle escapes lips with ease,  shrugging  &&  allowing eyelids to shut ever so slowly, lips pressed against hers, arms wrapping around petite complexion  &&  pulling her closer only by slightest bit.   (   familiar warmth radiated from her ;  each moment spent nothing but cherished memory.   this was the one  — -  his soulmate.   )     there are subtle movements of the lips :  it’s soft, passionate …   a euphoria only she can give to him.   there’s an absence of biting  —  this kiss maintains a sense of longing.   he missed her.   work had gotten in the way,  &&  thereby time with her has reduced.   explains the sudden tenderness ;  quiet breaths that leaves his lips the moment he pulls away.   amber hues finally revealed once more when eyelids open again  —  they meet her face.   warm feeling in chest, red cheeks, sweet smile that grew onto his lips …   THIS WAS LOVE.     ❛   you  surprised  me …   guess  i  needed  a  kiss  for  good  luck  today.   ❜
